Message From The Prez

Colin PicSpring is here and with it comes racing season. Many of us choose a race or two to add to the calendar each year and plan for, while others are looking for a place to run every weekend. Corridor Running offers chances for members in both Cedar Rapids and Iowa City to train with other group members as a part of the group runs that happen throughout the week in both cities. Please do consider joining with like minded people this year by running with other Corridor Running members.  You’ll discover it’s a lot of fun and you’ll make new friends along the way.

The group that meets in Cedar Rapids on Tuesdays will often be training for the Fifth Season Races on July 4th, and Thursday nights will again be a part of the Meet Me at the Market activities that happen at New Bo City Market. If you are training for a 5k, 8k or a longer event, these runs can truly help you along the way.

If a fall marathon is in your plans, you’ll want to take part in any of the weekend group runs that are offered in Iowa City or Cedar Rapids. Long runs are much easier when you have a few people running with you to talk to as the miles click by.

We hope to see all the familiar faces this summer and meet new people, too.

Thanks so much for being a part of Corridor Running.

CVRA is now Corridor Running

“Each age, it is found, must write its own books; or rather, each generation for the next succeeding.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

A new chapter has arrived. CVRA is now Corridor Running. This rebranding better suits the current geographical footprint of the organization and offers exciting new opportunities for members. In addition to the benefits that long time CVRA members enjoy, we are excited to announce several new benefits for runners and fitness enthusiasts in Eastern Iowa.

Highly competitive runners of all ages are invited to apply for membership in our new Elite Team. Qualifying members will enjoy complimentary shoes from sponsor Newton Running, Nike racing singlets, complimentary entry in area races and more.

Any runner that competes regularly in area races will now be able to represent the club as a member of the Corridor Running Race Squad. Custom Race Squad gear will soon be available through a new sponsorship arrangement with Nike.

We are working hard to negotiate greater benefits for all Corridor Running members. The new Fit Families discount card saves money at Corridor area health clubs, retailers, and area races. The addition of the Iowa City chapter will expand the value this program. These cards, exclusive to club members, will be available soon.

The popular Couch to 5k program continues, with an early spring option leading up to the Fifth Season Races on July 4th. Later in the summer, Corridor Running hosts another Couch to 5K program in Iowa City that will culminate at the Run for the Schools race in October.

Planned group runs are offered every day of the week. Participating members enjoy a chance make new friends while running safely. Some group run events include on-site coaching, and the opportunity to improve stamina, speed, and endurance.

The Corridor Running Iowa City chapter is pleased to present the Shamrock Shuffle and the Iowa City Downtown Series. These exciting events offer current club members a fun way to get to know our new chapter members.

Cedar Valley Running Association has been a venerable organization for many years, and the story continues. As we grow and welcome new members into the fold, we continue to be ambassadors of the great benefits of running and fitness. Corridor Running will evolve as a new generation tells their story. It will be a good read.
